Head Coach Tyreman announces retirement from all club rugby

“With the quality of players in Southampton I often feel as though I have underachieved” Glenn Tyreman

Spitfires head Coach Glenn Tyreman has called it time on his 10 year stint as Spitfires Head Coach. In that time he worked building the club up from a merit league team to a regional team with the squad playing in both the South East Division and the West of England Division more recently. In his time at he club silverware has been limited with just the South East Challenge Cup for the Men's First Grade in 2015 and the Women's Grand Final Winners in 2014. Tyreman himself admits his underachievement as his trophy cabinet also holds several silver medals for runners up dating back to the first competitive season where the squad lost 32-30 at Greenwich Admirals.

As well as the Spitfires Tyreman had stints and Basingstoke Beasts, St.Alban's Centurions and Crawley Jets where he won 2 Harry Jepson Cups. As well as club rugby the name Tyreman could be found connected to most representative rugby league including London Broncos, Origin Rugby League, South of England and England Lionhearts. His proudest moment been the hat-trick of victory's over the North of England on three consecutive years.

The club will now look to move forward and appoint a new head coach in the off season as Tyreman now heads up the role of the director of rugby for the West of England Representative side where he once again looks to pick up the Harry Jepson Cup one more time.

He will be missed greatly and the club wish him the best with his new project and hope to see him playing more for the Masters section of the club which caters for players over the age of 35.
