Portsmouth find form to beat sorry Spitfires

6 months ago By Glenn Tyreman

Spitfires unable to recapture the form that beat Portsmouth in round 2!

“It was a day to forget. Roll on Oxford in Round 5” Glenn Tyreman (Head Coach)
The Spitfires started out the better of the two teams and looked to cause the home teams defence trouble with a couple of clean breaks one of which later resulted in second rower Paul Fudio crashing over from close range. After that it was one was traffic as the Spitfires hit the self destruct button turning possession over on several occasions on the first tackle. With plenty of good field position the home side took advantage scoring 4 try's. With hope fading flying winger Mike Randall eased the pressure with an interception and a 90m sprint to the try line leaving the half time score 22-8 to Portsmouth.
The Spitfires poor form continued where it left off with too many penalties and poor decisions made with the ball in hand. The home side capitalised on this and ran in another 4 try's and shutting the Spitfires down to no score leaving the final score 44-8 to Portsmouth.
This loss cost the Spitfires top spot in the division as they now look to regain it with a tricky AWAY game at Oxford tomorrow.
