Southampton come out on top in local Derby

“We only beat Portsmouth when our coach is away...Just Saying” Mike McGrath (First Grade Captain)

Southampton Spitfires picked up their second win in 6 seasons against Portsmouth last weekend. After a previous cup win back in 2015 this was the clubs first ever league victory over their local rivals.

The game ended 36-24 to the Spitfires who held a slim lead at half time. Try's from the home side came from Josh Andrews, Adam Broadhurst, Sam Fairhurst, Mike McGrath, Mike Wisnewski, Tommy Foster and Man of the Match Aaron Enock.

Game breaker this weekend was skippers Mike McGraths try saving tackle late on in the game to deny Portsmouth any comeback.

The Spitfires are home again in a few weeks as they take on unbeaten BATH RL
