“The club is on the lookout for a new head coach for 2018”
Andy Beal (Club Chairman)
Southampton Spitfires are on the search for a new head coach after long standing head coach Glenn Tyreman retired this summer.
The volunteer position requires running one training session a week on Wednesdays from May to the middle of August. Selecting a team for the 10 weekly rounds and play offs in the West of England Division. Organising away days and appointing players from the squad to do various jobs each week such as Pitch set up and close down and helping out with the after match food on home games. The season will last for 14 weeks with 10 weekly rounds, 2 gap weekends and play offs.
The appointed coach will have a talented bunch of players to work with and support from the outgoing coach during the summer of 2018. A level 2 coaching badge in Rugby League is desirable but not essential as the club can organise the qualification to be taken at a later date.
All interested parties should email the club with their coaching CV to
The club is looking to appoint a coach before the end of December as that is the deadline to enter the leagues. If no coach is appointed the Spitfires could be grounded for the 2018 season.
