Bath too strong for travelling Spitfires

“Our season all boils down to Swindon away next weekend” Glenn Tyreman (Head Coach)

Bath RL won 58-8 yesterday to put the Spitfires into very last place on the table. Bath started brightly scoring on their first set of six tackles but the Spitfires held their own and on the 30 minute mark the score was 18 - 8 to the home side. The Spitfires scorers were Fairhurst who pounced from dummy half close to the line. Then Paddy Comerford scored his first try for the club cutting a great line out wide to break through.

The Spitfires made up of five new players on debut handled the game well but the team as a whole were unable to score any more points after creating good chances in the oppositions red zone.

With scoring chances blown Bath took advantage to run in two more try's before the break making the half time score 28-8.

The half time break was a welcome relief for the visitors but after that it was all one way traffic. Bath eventually ran out 58-8 winners scoring 5 try's as the Spitfires ran out of steam having only 2 subs and playing some parts of the second half with 12 players.

Despite the loss the Spitfires can still qualify for the playoffs but must start by beating Swindon away next Saturday.
