The Spitfires crashed out of the London Shield on Saturday to Eastern Region Division Leaders St.Ives Roosters.

The game was a tight affair and very physical as expected. With the score 26-20 to the Rooster with 20 minutes to go Southampton were looking to equalize. However a yellow card to center Andy Hoggins for pulling a player back was soon turned to a red as the centre had too many words to say to the official.

With the Roosters having a man advantage in the last 20 they ran in two more try's to run on 38-20 winners and progress to the semi finals of the shield.

Next up for Southampton are the Guildford Giants.

Andy Hoggins pictured below will find out his length of ban in the next few days.
